Culebra to St. Martin

At El Batey for hamburgers!  Alibi, Azaya, Kolibrie, and Wayward Wind crews.

The reunion with Plane to Sea, Azaya, Kolibrie, Wayward Wind, and Alibi.

From the lighthouse on Curebrita.

A new package from Sailrite arrived on Wednesday. These items were needed to start and finish some sewing projects. I'm about done with refinishing the teak on Wayward Wind. These "projects" are the last things holding us in Culebra. We are ready to move on.
We had a great time visiting with Don & Janice from Plane to Sea.  There was a reunion of sorts here in Ensenada Honda. A total of six boat crews got together!  We have all travelled together at one time or another. It was fun!
With all the sewing and woodworking projects done, it was time to leave Culebra. We sailed south to Vieques with Wayward Wind. Our last night together, we enjoyed a slide show of pictures from the past year. Next morning, winds had turned ESE so we prepped the boat and headed for St. Thomas!  A very nice day of sailing. We joined Celtic Rover in Charlotte Amalie harbor - a little on the rolly side with the southerly component to the winds. Some shopping at a chandlery and the local grocery store. We spent a day on "boat projects" and now, we are ready to move east some more. Looking forward to a visit with Stephen, Kelly, and Jake again!
We are moving into position to make our departure for St. Martin when we get a NE wind. Later this month, Jim Fagan is coming for a visit. We always have great times when he is here!!

        UPDATE***************************

We had a glorious sail from St. John to St. Martin on Saturday, March 9 - to March 10.  The winds were out of the north with a cold front and the northerly swell only made it to about 8 feet during our transit but the time interval was about 13 seconds so the up and down motion was barely noticeable.  We never had to adjust sails during the trip or tack once.  Last time we did the trip in this direction, we had to use the motor and continually change tacks to get here - 28 hours last time - 20 hours this time - much better!!!!
Today, I was given a ride to the veterinarian by Mike at Shrimpy's.  Twice in the past week, Roxy has been lethargic for about 30-36 hours.  It was time to get to the bottom of this - We have been so nervous about her!  The vet (really nice lady Dr) couldn't find anything wrong except that a blood test showed elevated eosinophils (one of the white cells) which may indicate tick fever.  We battle ticks on her all the time and try to keep a tick collar on her but they cannot get wet or they are no good - you all know how much she loves to swim.....  Anyway, we can all rest easier tonight since we know that she is on the mend.
Now, we can get to work on boat projects and possibly do some sight seeing on the island before Jim gets here.  WE are getting excited about seeing him again - he is the greatest boat guest!  Stay tuned for the escapades!

On Wayward Wind!
